A little bit of spice turns this into a great autumn drink.

Ingredients
  1. Spiced Syrup
  2. 1 quart water
  3. 2 cups sugar
  4. 4 cloves
  5. 4 cinnamon sticks
  6. 4 star anise
  7. 1 vanilla pod (or vanilla extract)
  8. 6 thin slices ginger
  9. Sangria
  10. Spiced syrup
  11. 2 bottles of red wine
  12. 2 apples
  13. 2 quarts orange juice
  14. ¼ cup lime juice
  15. Ice
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, vanilla and ginger.
  2. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Take syrup off the heat and let sit for a half hour.
  4. When it’s cool, strain and add to a large punch bowl.
  5. Stir in wine, cut apples, orange juice and lime juice.
  6. Serve over ice.
